An upcoming luncheon and a day for dogs are just a couple of events being put on through the Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County, in support of the American Cancer Society.

Coming up on Sunday, Aug. 25, it’s the annual Survivor and Caregiver Luncheon, which will be served at 1800 Baldwin Road, Hughson. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a special luncheon, prize drawings, music and moving tributes from cancer survivors and their caregivers.

There is no cost for the luncheon; survivors and caregivers that would like to attend are asked to RSVP to Selina at 209-505-7242.

In September, it’s Bark For Life, a day set aside for people to bring their dogs together for some fun activities, with proceeds of the day going to the Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County. Offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Bark For Life is planned at PetSmart, 2100 McHenry Ave., Modesto. Bring dogs on a leash and enjoy some canine camaraderie.

The fundraising year for the 2024 Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County is winding down; the May 18 and 19 event was hosted at Johansen High School in Modesto. Total raised has gone over the $142,600 mark to date; the goal was set at $175,000 for this year and officials said while they haven’t quite reached that level yet, they hope a few more team-focused fundraisers over the next several weeks will add to the bottom line.

Also coming up, the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of San Joaquin Valley will be presented by Sutter Health and staged Saturday, Oct. 20 at MJC West, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto.
