Coming up this weekend, it’s the latest edition of the Riverbank Cheese & Wine Festival, which will hit the streets of downtown with a full day of activities for the entire family.
The 47th Annual Cheese & Wine Festival will be a one-day-only event this year, but there will still be a lot to have fun with and enjoy around town.
The festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Patrons will be invited to sign up for one of the exclusive wine tasting sessions, to be held in the Riverbank Community Center on Santa Fe Street, across from Cardozo Middle School. There will be an hour and a half opportunity to savor the finest local unique wines, cheeses and other delectable bites, along with a perfect keepsake from an unforgettable day, a complimentary wine glass to take home.
Tickets are just $30, for the 21-and-over only experience. Parks and Recreation has partnered up with Lively Libations Hospitality Services, a knowledgeable staff that will guide participants through each sip and share stories behind the wines.
All three sessions of the wine tasting will be held on Saturday afternoon; from noon to 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
There will be a rotating schedule of children’s activities held right next to the Community Center, at the Teen Center, with new things to do each hour.
At the other end of Santa Fe Street, between Third and Second streets, a free hot rod and classic car show will be held, and there will be lots of vendor booths along both sides of Santa Fe, between Fourth and Seventh streets. The block between Third and Fourth will remain unused so as to allow access for the customers to the many businesses there.
