In recognition of Earth Month, the local ESAL, Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally, is putting together an upcoming event that will engage residents across Stanislaus County in a collective effort to promote environmental stewardship.
“Building on the success of the past community cleanup that took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2025, we’re inviting individuals from Riverbank, Modesto, Oakdale, and all surrounding communities to participate in a ‘Your Block, Your Impact!’ cleanup event,” said organizer Cynthia Prieto-Diaz. “This initiative encourages everyone to make a positive difference in their immediate surroundings, whether it’s their street, local park, or neighborhood.”
The clean up day is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and can take place anywhere in Stanislaus County.
Prieto-Diaz said she will “be focusing my cleanup efforts again along Patterson Road and Eighth Street in Riverbank, targeting known hotspots for tobacco product waste” that an be found near Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority bus stops.
“Residents are welcome to join me there,” Prieto-Diaz said.
Participants can scan a QR on the event flyer to sign a digital waiver and register their participation. After cleaning up their chosen area, participants are encouraged to share photos of their cleanup efforts for a chance to win prizes; email cynthia@esal.us
“This event emphasizes that small, individual actions can create a significant positive impact on our community and environment,” added Prieto-Diaz. “We are excited to see the collective effort from all the cities in our county.”
