County advisory commission seeks veteran nominees
Stanco

Nominations are currently being sought for the Veteran of the Year in Stanislaus County, with one nominee to be recognized from each of the five supervisorial districts.

Oakdale and Riverbank are in Supervisorial District 1.

In 2022, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors authorized the Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission (VAC) to annually select one veteran from each supervisorial district as Veteran of the Year. The commission is currently accepting nominations for this prestigious award. Anyone interested in nominating a candidate must fill out a nomination form. Each nominated candidate must also fill out a qualification form to be considered.

For more information, contact Ryan Kegley at kegleyry@stancounty.com or by calling 209-558-7380.

The Veterans Advisory Commission (VAC) serves as the eyes and ears for veterans in Stanislaus County. The VAC provides a forum for veterans to express their needs and advocate for services in their community, while monitoring regulations affecting the needs of veterans at federal, state, and local levels.

The nominee must have received honorable discharge from military service to be considered for nomination of this award and must include a copy of their DD214, if selected. Veterans can be nominated by a person or an organization; the nomination should include information why the veteran deserves the award, including service to other veterans, veterans’ organizations and to their community.

The Veterans Advisory Commission will be accepting nominations for Veteran of the Year until Friday, Aug. 2, 2024.

Nomination forms and a drop box to return the nominations are available at the Stanislaus Veterans Center, 3500 Coffee Road, Suite 15, Modesto.
