Confusion Coming Through
By Ellie White
5th grade
Why is the grass green?
Why do the birds chirp?
Why do people even care about what others think about them?
So why are things like this?
Why is the sky blue?
Why do others even trust you if you are confused about simple topics and life?
If I can crack the code to this world
Will things make sense to me?

Scared But Brave

Scared
Run, hide
Screaming, shivering, hiding
Frightened, agitated, fearless, heroical
Courageous, bold, adventurous

What Is A Mother?
By Ava Lund

A careful, caring, beautiful, wonderful person.
A careful person with an organized soul
A caring person to fill the emptiness in your heart
A beautiful person who shines brighter than gold
A wonderful person with the quickness of a dart
A person I am proud to call Mom.

Betrayal Of Self
By Ben Holmes

There is always someone who will betray you
There is always something for them to gain

Opinions From Your Action
From harm’s way
By Michaela Li
5th grade
Some people forget that “society” is us
When will the society change, is dubious
Do you think you chose the right decisions of what to believe?
You’ve agreed to what they have said to make yourself relieved.
Over and over again to protect yourself from harm’s way
Have you ever thought of how your decisions and words can betray?
They come back and inflict upon you and the others around you too
You feel trapped in your own taboos.
Then you’d feel regret and sometimes remorse for those you’ve affected
Are you glad of everything you’ve done, what you’ve inflicted?

Amelia
By Amelia Bradshaw
6th grade
Like a willow tree, always changing
Like a wolf, angry, kind, and crazy
Like the color royal blue and burnt orange,
at times I am thoughtful and at other times, I am rational
Like a strawberry, takes time to get ready
Like a fan, always thinking about everything
Like a diamond, can not be found everywhere
Like a Buick, sometimes forgotten
Like a poem, multiple meanings.

What Is Home?
By Jasper Ogburne
6th grade
Home is
A safe spot of healing and safety
You are safe from the ruthless world
With only your thoughts
and maybe even some edibles
No one is there to make you a victim of their insults
And you feel
Right at home.

Mysteries
By Brandon Smith
5th grade
In the vast expanse of space
Where stars twinkle and dance
Galaxies collide and embrace
The universe’s endless trance
Planets orbit in graceful motion
Moon’s glow in the dark sky
A cosmic symphony in devotion
As time passes by
Beyond the stars we dream
In the boundless space
Where possibilities gleam
And mysteries embrace
***
Cinquains
By Brandon Smith

Upon the
Luminous
Sky, birds soaring, clouds dancing
Nature’s beauty unfolding bright
Enchantment
Whispers of
Wisdom Shared
Through the rustling leaves, teaching
Life’s lessons in each gentle breeze
Guiding light
