Flapjacks were flippin’ early Saturday morning, Aug. 31 at Applebee’s in the Crossroads Shopping Center in Riverbank.
The restaurant opened its doors from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., before its regular hours, so the Bruin varsity football team could hold a fundraiser, featuring a short stack of pancakes and a couple of strips of bacon for those who helped support the team.
Varsity head coach Anthony Buich said he appreciated the support from the community, that about 117 tickets were sold.
And football players staffed nearly every position in the restaurant that morning, from greeters at the doors, to servers, even bus boys (and girls) to do the clean-up.
Everything was back as it should be by the time the restaurant opened for its regular hours, at 10:30 a.m.
As for other Riverbank sports fundraisers coming up, the Bruin Boosters organization has a few lined up through the next few months, and is asking supporters to mark their calendars for the events.
