The Centennial Committee which includes Riverbank residents, Historical Society members, and City staff created the idea to have a Founder’s Day Carnival. The family fun day will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Community Center Park. There is no admission for the carnival. This event is being hosted as part of the city’s ongoing Centennial Celebration.
A trackless train will be available to give families rides around the park. Santa Fe will be closed between Sixth and Seventh streets. Food vendors will be on hand serving up an assortment of tasty treats like tacos, funnel cakes, churros, corn on the cob, kettle corn, fruit cups, hot dogs and agua frescas.
There will be informational booths with free information and activities for families to enjoy.
The Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District will have a fire engine on hand for guests to check out as well as the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department being on scene.
Guests can enjoy a variety of Carnival games with prizes like hit the hammer to ring the bell, suction darts, ring toss, milk can toss, and much more.
Youngsters can enjoy a bounce house with an obstacle course and giant tricycles with a course for the older guests.
A DJ will be spinning some tunes to keep the guests entertained during the Carnival.
After the Founder’s Day gathering this weekend, the next event to celebrate the Centennial will be a Picnic and Car show on Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Center Park. There will be a live band and the picnic is free. Registration is currently open for the Car show as they would like to feature “Cars through the Decades from the 1920s to the 2020s.” Space is limited and early sign ups are advised.
All the festivities are in celebration of the Riverbank Centennial and not annual events with all volunteers running the festivities. The official day that the City of Riverbank will turn 100 is on Aug. 23. The big Centennial Celebration will be held on Aug. 20 in the Downtown Plaza.
