Free “Maker Hoopla” for children and families

Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) will hold the annual “Maker Hoopla” on Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St., Modesto. Maker Hoopla is a free family-friendly event for children from preschool to sixth grade to learn through creating. The event offers three sessions to accommodate attendees:

• 9: a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

• 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

• 1:15 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Maker Hoopla will include over 20 exhibits encouraging children to explore, build, and use their imaginations. Children and families can participate in activities including: Kinetic Sand, Kindness Rocks, Face Stamping, Straw Constructors, Perler Bead Tags, Thumbprint Art, Bead Lacing, Kaleidoscopes, Tissue Paper Flowers and more.

Partnering organizations include the Central Valley Film Project, Carnegie Arts Center, The Dragonfly-Art for Life, Great Valley Museum, Modesto Art Academy, Imagination Library, and Stanislaus County Public Library. This event is open to the public and will offer plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning and creating.
