Kids Corner added to cheese, wine festival
RIV cw 9-11
There’s always plenty to see and do at the annual Riverbank Cheese and Wine expo, such as these car enthusiasts at the festival last year enjoying a chance to view the vehicles. This year, there will be even more fun for kids, with some special activities in a dedicated Kids Corner and a ‘Cheese and Grape Tasting’ offered to the youngsters. Ric McGinnis/The News

Wondering what the youngsters can do while the adults are enjoying sampling cheese and wine in downtown Riverbank next month?

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department has developed activities just for kids as part of this year’s Cheese and Wine Exposition, giving them an opportunity to join in the celebration. There will be a variety of exciting, hands-on things to do at a Kids Corner, which will be set up in front of the Teen Center on Santa Fe Street. It’s right next door to the Community Center where the Cheese and Wine tasting is scheduled, on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The planned activities are all free for the kids.

And there’s a long and varied list of events to choose from.

There will be a Story Time Adventure, listening to reading of The Sour Grape. There will be Crafts with Ella Rose, creating beautiful bracelets, and Wine Glass Painting, where youngsters will take home a personalized wine glass.

Another fun activity will be DIY Grape Slime, where kids can dig in to some gooey, grape-themed slime making.

And there will also be their own Cheese and Grape Tasting, where they can introduce their taste buds to new flavors with a first-ever tasting event for the younger crowd.

Cheese and Wine patrons are invited to bring the kids, bring the excitement, to help make this year’s festival memorable. The Kids Corner promises a day of fun, creativity, and tasty treats.
