Library serving up variety of activities
STANISLAUS COUNTY LIBRARY

The first month of the new year will feature several programs at the Riverbank Branch Library, at 3442 Santa Fe St., Riverbank.

Tuesdays, Jan. 9 and Jan. 23 will see the Bilingual Story Time offered at 11 a.m.; the story time features books, stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes, and more. Some material is presented in English while other material is presented in Spanish, allowing for more natural transitions and exposing children to both languages in an inviting environment. It is designed for children under 5 to participate with their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Regular Story Time will run Tuesdays, Jan. 16 and 30 at 11 a.m., with books, stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes, and more, also designed for children under 5 to participate with their caregivers, but all ages welcome.

An Art Lab focused on Winter Bird Painting will be hosted on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 3:30 p.m., offering a fun art class for kids. Children will paint with watercolors to make winter birds in a snowy scene.

On Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m., the Master Gardeners will put on a Growing Citrus class. Citrus trees are the most popular fruit trees grown in California. Attend the class for tips on the best time to plant and prune, how to manage pests, and more.

On Tuesday, Jan. 23, a Kumihimo Keychain Craft is scheduled, with that program at 3:30 p.m.

Learn Japanese Kumihimo loom braiding and make your own keychain. Materials will be provided. This program is geared for teens and tweens, nine years old and up. Adults are welcome as well; those planning to attend are asked to individually register for the craft activity.

Finally, on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 4 p.m., the Riverbank Library Book Club will meet.

Book clubs allow community members to expand their knowledge of books through meaningful discussions with others. The book club will discuss “The Little Paris Bookshop” by Nina George this month.

As a reminder, the local library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Regular hours at the Riverbank Library are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesdays, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Fridays and Sundays.
