Modesto gas prices have risen 0.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.75/gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 201 stations in Modesto. Gas prices in Modesto are 11.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.16/gallon higher than a year ago.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $3.27/gallon as of April 12 while the most expensive was $4.23, a difference of 96.0 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state was $3.09 while the highest was $5.79, a difference of $2.70/gallon.
The national average price of gasoline has fallen 2.1 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.85/gallon on April 12. The national average is down 0.5 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands $1.02/gallon higher than a year ago.
Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $3.73, down 6.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.79; Oakland - $3.96/gallon, up 0.8 cents from last week’s $3.95; and San Jose - $3.96, up 1.9 cents per gallon from $3.94/gallon.
“It has been a fairly tame last few weeks at the pump for most areas after a particularly active February and March when prices were screaming higher,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. “After surging back then, we’ve seen the price increases fade, and while we haven’t seen much of a decline, prices have been holding near their yearly highs. Make no mistake, gas prices this year will be tied to the hip of the COVID situation.”
