Homecoming 2013 for Riverbank High School started off on Friday, Sept. 6 with a Fashion Show held at the quad during lunch. This year Homecoming Week officially runs from Sept. 9 through Sept. 13 and the theme this year is ‘Bruins Got Game,’ with each day having a board game theme.

RHS Activities Director, Christine Perez and the Leadership class have been very busy organizing and planning this year’s Homecoming festivities.

Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors flaunted their stuff on the makeshift runway as they gave all the students examples of what to wear according to the theme for that day and the colors that were chosen for the celebratory days throughout this week, leading up to the big Homecoming game on Friday night.

The candidates for King and Queen were also announced at the Fashion Show. In the running for the Homecoming King are Tristin Rodgers, Justin Sandoval, Orlando Gutierrez, Rafael Verdin and Eric Hernandez. The Queen candidates are Kendra Garcia, Janelle Luu, Toni Adams, Aidee Rosales and Chloe Arnold.

Monday, Sept. 9 was the first themed day for Homecoming Week with the theme of ‘Operation’ where all students either wore medical attire such as scrubs or sported red and yellow to participate and show their spirit.

Tuesday, Sept. 10 was themed for the game ‘Clue’ so students were asked to dress like nerds or wear purple and green. Tuesday was also the final day to cast your vote for Homecoming Queen and King.

Today, Wednesday, Sept. 11 is all about business attire with ‘Monopoly’ as the theme for the day and black and white are the colors. The girls Powder Puff game begins at 6:30 p.m. on the Bruin field and at halftime the King will be crowned.

On Thursday, Sept. 12 the seniors selected ‘Battleship’ as their theme so anything military or camouflage is acceptable on this day or the student can wear grey and navy blue.

The big day with the most festivities will be on Friday, Sept. 13 which is themed Bruin Pride and students are asked to wear the school colors of maroon and silver. There will be a rally in the Fauria Gym and the parade will begin at 3:20 p.m. in downtown Riverbank at Seventh and Santa Fe streets.

The JV football game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity will begin at 7:30 p.m. against Delhi High School. During halftime of the Varsity football game, the Homecoming Queen will be crowned, the winner of the class float competition will be announced, and the Spirit Bear will be awarded to the class with the most spirit points accumulated during the week.
