The premier Bay Area craft fair benefiting KPFA 94.1 FM Public Radio is a juried selection of affordable art, crafts and gifts created and presented by over 200 exhibitors. All will be on display and for sale at the 46th Annual KPFA Winter Crafts Fair on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Craneway Crafts Fair at the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond on the waterfront will present a remarkable array of holiday gift options for people of all ages. The event showcases established and emerging talents in contemporary art and craft; innovative designers who produce one-of-a-kind, handmade and limited edition goods in a wide variety of media. These artists and craftspeople combine new and traditional techniques with modern design aesthetics to produce appealingly fresh and innovative work.

Local business, Oakdale’s Cowboy Toffee Co. will be on hand at the Craft Fair bringing their original tasty treats to guests, including the semi-sweet chocolate and chunky roasted almond toffee called the Mustang. Owners Samantha and Daniel McGinnis have been sharing their passion for food with guests for many years.

Also, fair-goers may choose from outstanding wearable textiles to sophisticated ceramics, luminous glasswork, innovative furniture and high design, yet practical housewares. There’s also evocative photography, original paintings and block-printed art, contemporary paper goods and an impressive selection of hand-made jewelry.

Craneway Crafts Fair producer Jan Etre finds the Craneway Pavilion on Richmond’s scenic waterfront to be the ideal location.

 “We’ve found the perfect venue for our bi-annual event: a beautifully restored historic building that’s flooded with a glorious natural light in which the artists can best present their work,” stated Etre. “And the location is not only stunning, but easily accessible, with ample free parking and a free shuttle from the Richmond BART Station.”

Originally a Ford Motor plant, Craneway Pavilion was transformed in WWII for the war effort. On site is the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historic Park Visitor Education Center, which opened in 2012. The Craneway has received numerous awards for its architecture. Its location on the waterfront and 180 degrees view of the San Francisco Bay are breathtaking.
