The Riverbank Library has a variety of programs and events for youth to participate in each month. Last week the library hosted a ‘tinker table’ program for all ages. This program offered participants the opportunity to build anything they desired out of items that were provided by the Friends of the Riverbank Library.

The kids were making things out of Pringle cans, boxes, cardboard tubes, and other items. There was one young lady making a cat scratcher post and another made a robot. They had a variety of decorative items including colorful Duct tape with designs, multi colored caps, yarn, glitter, glue, pipe cleaners – also known as craft stems – in assorted colors, along with markers and other miscellaneous items.

Riverbank resident Ann Samo brought her kids Etana and Ashouram to the Riverbank library for the first time to participate in the tinker craft. Samo was very pleased with the library event and plans to bring the kids back for other activities.

To help the youngsters with ideas for the craft, Librarian Vicky Holt provided books like Nifty Thrifty Art Crafts, Maker Lab, and Star Wars Science Fair Book to name a few. The creative ideas were flowing at the library which allowed the kids the ability to invent, create, and tinker with a variety of goods.

Next week on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 3:30 p.m. all ages are invited to a back to school craft, making bug pencil toppers out of craft foam. The activities at the library are free and the participants are allowed to take home any crafts that they make.

The Riverbank Library Book Club meets on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. to discuss My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

On Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m. teens and tweens can participate in a pin craft where they can make Shrinky Dink emoji pins.
