Modesto Junior College Department of Music will present a Fall String Recital on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall on the East Campus. The students of Anne Martin, director of orchestra and strings at MJC, will perform solo works by Bach, Dancla, Handel and Roggen. The event is open to the public and admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted.
The program opens with the Elementary Strings Class playing the Indian Lament, Good King Wenceslas, and Pachelbel Canon. The String Orchestra will present works by Handel and Gliere. The group will also perform Carol of the Bells and the traditional Irish folk song, Slane. This piece will be dedicated to the memory of MJC student Eric Gonzales. Special guest from Portland, Anthony Houth, will perform several movements of Bach’s second cello suite. Pianist Wesley Richmond will accompany the students.
