The American Association of University Women (AAUW), Oakdale Riverbank Escalon Branch, is holding its Annual Fall Scholarship Fundraiser this Sunday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. The theme this year is titled, “A journey through Spain on the Camino de Santiago.”

Each ticket costs $25, and includes appetizers, beverages, both a silent and live auction, and viewing of a film related to travel on the Spanish, Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail. All proceeds go to fund college scholarships and to support two statewide AAUW projects. First, the Eleanor Stem Allen Memorial Speech Trek contest, a project to promote understanding and communication of gender-equity issues among high school students through their research, preparation, and presentation of high-quality speeches, and second, the Tech Trek Math and Science Camp for Girls which strives to develop interest and excitement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields and self-confidence in eighth grade young women. For more information about how to get tickets to support this event, call 209-847-8553.
