Nominees are in for Riverbank’s Business of the Year, with three firms in the running for the honor.
Businesses nominated are Antigua Event Center, Sno-White Drive In and Save Mart Supermarket. Chamber of Commerce members can vote for the nominee they want to see recognized as the Business of the Year for 2013.
“We need your vote no later than Friday, Jan. 10,” said Riverbank Chamber of Commerce President Jerry Van Houten.

The winner will be announced as part of the MOY/COY (Man of the Year/Citizen of the Year) dinner scheduled for later this month. The evening will include recognition for the Citizen of the Year, Youth of the Year and Business of the Year. Citizen and Youth nominees were listed in the Jan. 1 issue of The News.

Antigua Event Center
Antigua Event Center is located on the corner of Second and Santa Fe Street, 3200 Santa Fe. Since 2005, Antigua Event Center has been the area’s premier venue for a variety of events. They host all occasions, including birthday parties, wedding ceremonies, receptions, business events and so much more. Herman Chavez is the owner and an integral part of Antigua Event Center earning a distinguished reputation as the premier venue for all sorts of events.
Herman Chavez and the Antigua Event Center are key supporters of the Riverbank Chamber of Commerce and have generously contributed their service and facilities to help bring business and community together through the Chamber’s monthly Business Expos.
Sno-White Drive In
Sno-White Drive in is located on the corner of Atchison (Highway 108) and Fifth streets. Sno-White is owned by Daryl Daniel and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013. Daryl Daniel works hard to compete with the larger franchises in a challenging economy with great service and food. His service to the community includes serving as a director on the Chamber board, helping organize and contributing towards community events, and being a big supporter of the chamber’s monthly business expo. Sno-White also supports and sponsors many of the city’s youth sports events. Daryl Daniel and Sno-White have been very generous to the city’s less fortunate as well.
Riverbank Save Mart
Riverbank’s Save Mart Supermarket has become a great supporter of the City of Riverbank. Tony Angoletta is the store manager. The market is located at 2237 Claribel Road in the Crossroads Shopping Center.
Save Mart has supplied the Riverbank Federated Women’s Club a dessert of cookies for everyone at the Christmas luncheon (more than once). Save Mart is a supporter of the Riverbank Sheriff Department, PAL Activities League, and Modesto’s K-9 unit. Save Mart also helps support California Avenue School’s “Lights On” program, and has donated many snacks and waters, and even gave away a Schwinn bicycle.
Save Mart is a supporter of the Sylvan School District and makes omelets for their Omelet Breakfast. Save Mart also has supported the Riverbank Historical Society in their fundraising efforts by supplying muffins for their Omelet breakfast more than once.
The city’s 2013 Community Awards Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Riverbank Community Center, 3600 Santa Fe.
Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
Dinner tickets are $15 per person and will be available through Jan. 22 at Riverbank City Hall, 6707 Third Street. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
