Master gardener program among library offerings

Citrus with the Master Gardeners will be hosted at the Riverbank Library on Saturday, Jan. 11.

The 2 p.m. program is open to all interested and is sponsored by the UCCE Master Gardeners of Stanislaus County.

Citrus trees are the most popular fruit trees grown in California. Learn the best time to plant and prune, how to manage pests, and other tips to help you successfully grow your own delicious fruit.

Also going on at the local library branch on Santa Fe Street, all ages can sign up for and participate in the Winter Reading Challenge, which runs through Feb. 14. Get more information or sign up at the branch; prizes are available based on the number of books read during the challenge.

On Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m., the library will host a Button Making Craft for kids and teens. Make cool buttons to pin on your backpack or hat. Have fun coloring and turn your artwork into something you can wear. They have the machine; participants just need to bring their creativity. Preteen children are welcome to participate with parental supervision.

The Riverbank Library Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. This month, the book club will discuss Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini. Book clubs encourage community members to expand their knowledge of books through meaningful discussions with others.

Bilingual Story Time is scheduled for Tuesdays, Jan. 14 and 28. The 11 a.m. program features books, stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes, and more. Some material is presented in English while other material is presented in Spanish, allowing for more natural transitions and exposing children to both languages in an inviting environment. It is designed for children under 5 to participate with their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Story Time will be offered on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m., featuring books, stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes, and more. All ages welcome, though the program is geared primarily for children under 5 to participate with their caregivers.

The Riverbank Library is at 3442 Santa Fe. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Friday and Sunday.
