The local ASTRO – Animal Shelter to Riverbank and Oakdale – Foundation received support for local shelter animals via grant funding in the amount of $12,000 from Modesto Subaru in addition to co-hosting an adoption event which helped rescue pets in the community find loving homes. A total of 55 rescue pets were adopted throughout the month of October. The effort was part of Subaru Loves Pets, a national Subaru initiative to support the lives of as many shelter animals as possible.
During the month of October, Modesto Subaru and over 630 Subaru retailers nationwide worked with the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to provide grants to local partner shelters resulting in over $3 million in donations.
Subaru is proud to have donated over $60 million since 2008 to national and local organizations that help in the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of over 504,000 animals and pets.
In addition to hosting the pet adoption event, Modesto Subaru helped celebrate the sixth annual National Make A Dog’s Day by encouraging the local community to do something special for the dogs in their lives, adopt a shelter dog, or volunteer at an animal shelter and share the experience on social media using the hashtag #MakeADogsDay.
The ASTRO Foundation was founded in 2012 and is dedicated to rescuing homeless cats and dogs from Riverbank and Oakdale. The ASTRO Adoption Center is at 157 N. Fifth Ave., in Oakdale and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
ASTRO is partnered with Petco Love and has cats available for adoption at their facility in Riverbank. The ASTRO Thrift and Gift Shop is at 250 E. E St., in Oakdale, and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds from the shop benefit the rescue animals.
