The massive Costco warehouse that has risen from the parking lot in the Crossroads West construction area north of Claribel at Oakdale Road in Riverbank is preparing to open its doors.

The popular store is expected to stage an early morning opening, 7:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 13, about a year after its construction was announced. Normal hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Riverbank’s Costco store will join 137 other locations across the state, with the most in the U.S., where the nationwide total is 611. Other recent store openings in California include those in Loomis, in Placer County, and Natomas, in Sacramento.

It is the third location in Stanislaus County, joining Modesto and Turlock. Other nearby stores are in Manteca and Tracy. One thing observers might notice, the Riverbank warehouse is a little more stylish in its design than other, older locations.

On the western edge of the massive parking lot, the Costco gas station stands, waiting for members – existing or new – to stop by to pump fuel.

Inside, shoppers will find the traditional array of food, beverages, household items, furniture, clothing and more.

As of 2016, Costco was the world’s largest retailer of choice and prime beef, organic foods, rotisserie chicken and wine.

Its corporate headquarters is in a suburb of Seattle, and its signature ‘Kirkland’ brand harkens back to its former location, also in Seattle.
