The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Sept. 24 through Monday, Sept. 30. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, SEPT. 30

Battalion 2: Crews completed equipment checks and station maintenance.

Engine 26 trained on deploying hose lines in their FMA.

Station 24 introduced local law enforcement personnel to Tank, its Peer Support K-9.

Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 completed their Monday apparatus checks and yard maintenance.

 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 29

The Modesto City Firefighters Union, Local 1289 held their annual family fun day at Graceada Park.

Battalion 2: Crews completed their weekly EMS inventory check.

7:46 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to a residence on Caleb Court in Riverbank for a Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm. The crew used their CO monitor to evaluate the conditions at the residence. They found elevated CO readings and secured the residence until PG&E arrived. The occupants did not have any symptoms.

Battalion 5: The probationary firefighter at Station 27 continued prepping for his final written exam by studying fireground tactics and going over fireground procedures with the crew at the station.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 28

Technical Rescue Team trained on trench rescue operations at the water treatment plant.

Battalion 2: 6:35 p.m. – Engine 23 and Quint 22 responded to a vehicle accident in the 3500 block of Albers Road. E23 was the first to arrive and reported one minor injury. CHP is investigating the accident.

Battalion 5: Crews completed company level training.

Crews completed station cleaning and maintenance.

 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 27

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 worked with the crew at Station 22 on company officer signoffs and expectations.

Battalion 5: Crews completed station and apparatus maintenance.

10:37 p.m. – Stanislaus Engine 26 and BC5 responded to an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3000 block of Davis Avenue in Riverbank. Crews provided patient care to the victim and they were transported to a local hospital. Stanislaus County Sheriffs are investigating.

 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 26

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 companies completed yards and exterior maintenance.

Battalion 2 companies visited several target hazards discussing fire scenarios.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 28 conducted hose drills and line selection training.

Engine 27 assisted with the Oakdale High School ROP Fire Science program.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 25

Battalion 5: 4:02 p.m. – Engine 28 responded to a vehicle fire on Yosemite Avenue in Oakdale. On arrival they found an engine compartment fire that had been extinguished.

 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 24

A small promotional ceremony was held at Fire Administration for Brett Sinclair, captain and James Woodmansee, engineer.

Battalion 2: Crews completed Emergency Medical Protocol training.

Battalion 5: Engine 27 performed maintenance on the fire hydrants in Oakdale ensuring that when needed, the unlimited water source will be reliable and available to them in a fire.

8:37 p.m. – Engine 28 responded to a vegetation fire on Warnerville Road in Oakdale on a property in a pasture. The fire was an eighth of an acre and extinguished in short order.
