Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 11-20-24

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Nov. 12 through Monday, Nov. 18. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, NOV. 18

Annual ladder testing was conducted at Fire Station 17.

Battalion 2: 5:34 p.m. – While returning from training with 26, Engine 23 with Engine 9 responded to Claus Road near Sylvan Avenue for a multiple vehicle accident. Three patients were treated on scene with one being transported. MPD investigating.

Battalion 5: Crews completed weekly apparatus and equipment checks as well as weekly station maintenance.

3:41 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Quint 22, and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a gas leak inside a residence in the 1300 block of East F Street. Engine 28 reported they were able to isolate the issue and canceled the balance.

6:37 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 were dispatched to the 700 block of Old Stockton for a person trapped in an elevator. Engine 28 reported the subject was out of the elevator on the third floor and canceled the balance. Engine 28 worked on securing the elevators prior to clearing.

 

SUNDAY, NOV. 17

Companies across all battalions participated in a multi-company training focusing on a variety of fire ground operations, including a mayday scenario.

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

Engine 26 practiced drafting operations in the Stanislaus River.

Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 completed weekly station cleaning and maintenance.

10:37 a.m. – Engine 28, E27 and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident involving a deer that was hit. The driver and passenger had minor injuries from air bag deployment and were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The deer did not survive the crash.

 

SATURDAY, NOV. 16

Battalions 1, 2, 3 and 5 along with Quint 22 met at a future training site in Station 22’s district.

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

Crews attended Life Pak 15 monitor training.

Engine 26 trained on establishing a water supply in Riverbank.

Battalion 5: E27 was on hand at the new park on Greger Road in Oakdale for a community event. Firefighters showed kids the fire engine and gave a fire safety presentation.

4:33 p.m. – E28 responded to a vehicle accident at G Street and Ventanas. Two patients were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

 

FRIDAY, NOV. 15

Annual hose testing was completed for the year. All apparatus and reserve apparatus hoses were tested.

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

Crews attended Life Pak 15 monitor training.

4:30 p.m. – Engine 23, Quint 22, and Battalion 2 responded to a vehicle accident at Albers and Milnes roads. Engine 23 located a three-car accident on Milnes, west of Albers Road. A total of seven occupants were evaluated, two minor patients declined transport to a medical facility.

Battalion 5: 11:30 a.m. – Modesto Engine 29, Stanislaus Brush 24, and BC5 responded to a vegetation fire at Valley Home Road and Lon Dale Road. Crews arrived on scene of a roadside grass fire that was 20’x1200’. Crews quickly extinguished and mopped up the fire. The fire was caused by property owners burning off weeds from the berm.

5:02 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, Stanislaus Quint 22, and BC5 responded to a potential structure fire in the 100 block of Reed Road for smoke coming from the roof of a house. Upon arrival the cause of the smoke was found to be a pellet smoker that was being used for cooking. The responding balance was cancelled.

9:39 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28, Stanislaus Engine 24, Quint 22, and BC5 responded to a potential structure fire in the 4000 block of Crow Road for a report of a chimney on fire. Engine 28 arrived on scene and confirmed that the fire stayed within the wood burning stove and there was negative extension. The responding balance was cancelled. Engine 28’s crew assisted the property owner with cooling off the burning contents within the wood stove.

 

THURSDAY, NOV. 14

Companies continued to assist with annual hose testing of the apparatus.

Battalion 5: Modesto Chief 2 and BC5 attended the monthly Oakdale Rural Fire Protection District Board Meeting in Knights Ferry.

Crews completed apparatus and station maintenance.

Crews worked on completing annual training for the end of the year.

 

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 13

Annual hose testing continued at the Regional Fire Training Center.

Battalion 2: SCFPD companies rotated through Station 22 for Life Pak 15 monitor training.

Engine 23, Engine 26, Quint 22 and BC2 attended the FMA Training in Station 28’s area.

Battalion 5: Crews worked on station and apparatus maintenance.

E27 conducted hydrant maintenance and service in their FMA.

Engine 28 provided FMA training for Engine 27, Engine 29, Engine 26, Quint 22, Engine 23, BC3 and BC2.

 

TUESDAY, NOV. 12

Annual hose testing continued at the Regional Fire Training Center.

Battalion 2: MST Companies conducted FMA training at Kiva Energy.

Battalion 5: Congratulations to Captain Bromley for his 20 years of service. Captain Bromley is currently assigned to E27.

Engine 28 tested their engine hose at the RFTC.

Engine 7, Engine 9, and Engine 17 attended training hosted by Engine 26.
