Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 9-4-24

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 27 through Monday, Sept. 2. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, SEPT. 2

Battalion 2: MST companies rotated through Station 22 for EMS training led by Medic 1.

Crews completed apparatus maintenance across the battalion.

8:45 a.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7, Quint 22 and BC2 responded to a possible structure fire at Sante Fe and Third Street in Riverbank. E26 arrived and found a small fire up against a building. It was quickly extinguished and confirmed not to have extended.

Battalion 5: 4:53 a.m. – Engine 28, Engine/WT 27, Engine 29, Engine/WT23, Engine 26, Quint 22, Escalon Water Tender 1-1, BC5, BC2 and FIU responded to a residential structure fire in the 10000 block of Eaton Road. Upon arrival there was a fully involved outbuilding with multiple other out buildings threatened as well as fire in the vegetation. Crews worked in the defensive mode to quickly extinguish the fire. FIU is investigating.

Engine 28 and Engine 29 attended the quarterly EMS training at Station 22.

9:51 a.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27 and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident involving a golf cart on Valley Oak Drive. On scene Engine 28 located two patients with moderate injuries. The juvenile patient was flown out per protocol. Engine 29 responded to the Oakdale Rodeo grounds to land the air ambulance.

 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 1

Battalion 2: MST companies rotated through Station 22 for EMS training led by Medic 1.

Engine 26 trained on saws at Fire Station 26.

Battalion 5: Engine 7 and Engine 28 conducted probationary firefighter training for the upcoming 10- month exam.

 

SATURDAY, AUG. 31

Battalion 2: Engine 24, Engine 23, and Battalion 2 responded to a three-car vehicle accident in Waterford.

Battalion 5: 5:02 a.m. – Engine 28, E27, E29 and BC5 responded to a vehicle pin-in on Rodden Road in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene to find a car that had gone off the road and slightly down an embankment and into a tree, pinning the driver. Crews worked to free the trapped patient and had him extricated in 13 minutes. He was driven by ambulance to a landing zone where he was flown to a local hospital with major injuries.

10:38 p.m. – OES4615 and BC5 were dispatched to assist Cal Fire on a vehicle fire that started a grass fire on Lake Tulloch Dam Road. Crews arrived and helped put out both fires.

 

FRIDAY, AUG. 30

Battalion 5: 7:50 a.m. – Engine 27, E28, E26 and BC5 responded to a semi-trailer that had rolled over after being cut off by another driver at Patterson and Crane Roads. The rig sheered two power poles as it slid along Patterson Road. The driver self-extricated, avoided the power lines and had minor injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

3:05 p.m. – MST units responded to a report of a structure fire at a mobile home park on F Street in Oakdale. E27 arrived on scene and secured a circuit breaker panel that overheated and melted.

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 29

Battalion 5: 10:53 p.m. – Grass 3, Grass 21/Water Tender 21, Engine 26, Grass 27/Water Tender 27, Brush 28, and BC5 responded to multiple fires in the river bottom around Highway 108 and Atchison Street in Riverbank. Crews arrived on-scene and extinguished five piles of trash that were on fire.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 28

Battalion 5: Modesto Chief 2, BC5, and Engine 28’s crew attended a leadership training hosted by the City of Oakdale that had a focus of Coaching for Improved Performance.

7:45 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28, Engine 29, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident with injuries at Wamble Road and Orange Blossom Road. Engine 28 arrived on-scene of a solo vehicle accident with one power pole that was down. Engine 28 advised that the accident was non-injury and cancelled the remaining balance. PG&E was called to the scene to replace the power pole.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 27

Battalion 2: Engine 26 with Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District Fire Prevention inspected fire protection systems in Riverbank.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 and Captain 27 reviewed draft Hire Back procedure and impacts on implementation.

Crews worked on probationary firefighter task book sign offs.

BC5 managed station coverage during resource draw down for a river bottom fire in Battalion 3’s area.
