FRANK ANTHONY (TONY) SCOTT

Frank Anthony (Tony) Scott, age 82 of Oakdale, CA passed away after a brief illness on November 5, 2024.

He is survived by his wife, Sherley Cosio-Scott, step-son, Brandon Cosio, and brother, Steve (wife, Suk Hui) Scott of Loveland, Colorado, and many nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers, John and Michael.

Tony spoke nostalgically of his early years in Arcadia, Kansas and of his time in the Boy Scouts where he earned the highly regarded Eagle Scout badge. During his teen years he attended Sunnyvale High School. Tony was the sophomore who proudly wore the calculus slide ruler on his hip and was labeled “The Brain” under his yearbook photo.

In college, he received his B.S. degree in chemistry. He worked as a chemist, physicist, manager of an Apple Computer store, building contractor of homes and hotels and air quality inspector, among other professions. He served in the US Army Reserve as a stateside medic.

Tony’s passion was learning and sharing his knowledge with others. Being an avid reader and having an insatiable curiosity, he could speak with authority on a variety of subjects from Horticulture to Quantum Physics. He was gifted for his intellect, an endearing positive persona, “off-beat” humor and caring nature.

In earlier decades, his love for travel was expansive, to include exploring much of Europe in a van. In retirement year, “road trips” with his friend, Craig Mitchell were always adventurous. They delighted in seeking historic sites and places of great natural beauty, particularly on back roads off the beaten path. They traveled through Oregon, the California Coastline, the Sierra Nevada and the Rocky Mountains.

Tony was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by his family, friends and “Bob” our family cat.

Private funeral services and celebration of life will take place in the Spring of 2025 at the Coulterville Community Cemetery.
