Joe R. Balber passed away on November 1, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born in Van Houten, New Mexico on March 25, 1940 to George and Lucy Balber. After graduating Clovis Union High School, he went on to enlist in the Air Force. He often spoke fondly of his service. Joe went on to become a line mechanic for 40 years for various can factories.

He met the love of his life, Carol Cozzitorto, in a barber shop in San Jose. It was love at first sight. They shared 52 years of marriage and enjoyed road trips on their motorcycles, traveling the world, and many other fun things together.

Joe was quick witted and loved to laugh. He was also a talented musician. His love for music started while learning to play the guitar with his brother, Ray. His musical talents grew as he learned to play the harmonica, accordion, and organ. He often played and sang for his children and grandchildren.

Joe, a beacon of kindness and love, will forever reside in our hearts. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. As we grapple with the loss of his physical presence, we find solace in knowing that his spirit lives on through the love he instilled in us.

He is survived by his brother, Ray (Connie) Balber, and sisters Pat Garcia and Theresa (Simon) Barry. His children, Veronica (Phil) Gilstrap, Joey (Donna) Balber Jr., Deana Greer, Angie (Keith) Stevens, Gina Peltier, and many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lucy and George, wife Carol, son Gino, grandson Charlie Gilstrap, brother-in-law Joe Garcia, and son-in-law Mark Peltier.

Services will be held on November 14, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA 95326.
