Norma Constance Haase Deklinski passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 13, 2024 in Oakdale, CA at the age of 99 years. She was born on August 17, 1924 in Kingston, Jamaica to Justin and Constance Haase and had one brother and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Edward Deklinski in 1999.

Norma had a successful career as an executive secretary for Norwegian Cruise Lines in which she enjoyed many travels to exotic places with her family. Norma and Edward married July 7, 1948 while he was stationed in Jamaica. While there, she gave birth to her first son, Robert in 1949. The small family then moved to Wiesbaden, Germany and in 1956, she had her second child, Dane. The family lived in many places including New York and Florida, finally settling in Oakdale, CA in 1994. Following Edward’s death, Norma moved into Oak Haven Senior Apartments and enjoyed many excursions to plays and casinos, and playing bingo at the adjacent senior center. In 2019, she moved into the Oak Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and delighted staff with her upbeat and sometimes demanding personality.

She is survived by her two sons Robert and Dane, daughters-in-law Becky and Lisa, grandchildren Nick, Dean, Shannon, Meghan, and Deanna as well as 11 great grandchildren. An internment will take place on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, located at 5810 Midway Road in Dixon, CA with a luncheon immediately following at Bud’s Grill, 100 South First Street, Dixon, CA.
