Average gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 1.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.13/gallon on Monday, Nov. 25, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 201 stations in Modesto. Prices in Modesto are 30.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 39.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 1.3 cents in the last week and stands at $3.50 per gallon.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $3.45/gallon while the most expensive was $4.91, a difference of $1.46/gallon. The lowest price in the state was $3.39 while the highest was $6.79, a difference of $3.40/gallon.
The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.01/gallon on Nov. 25. The national average is down 11.2 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 23.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $4.10 per gallon, down 4.7 cents from last week’s $4.15; Oakland - $4.38, down 4.1 cents from $4.42; and San Jose - $4.35 per gallon, down 4.6 cents from last week’s $4.40 per gallon.
“Motorists continue to be teased by the prospect of a $2.99 per gallon national average, a level now seen in 32 states. But for the last few weeks, the stars just haven’t quite aligned,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “For now, we’re just pennies away from the national average falling to $2.99, but for a third year, we may again fall short.”
Historical gasoline prices in Modesto and the national average going back 10 years show the highest Modesto average of $4.83 per gallon was on Nob. 25, 2022 and the lowest was $2.41 in 2016. The highest U.S. average was $3.55 in 2022 and the lowest was $2.05 in 2015.
