Bruin sports transitioning from fall to winter season

It’s that time of year, after fall sports but before winter teams start, on the Riverbank High School campus. Some teams are getting practices in as they await the start of their winter campaigns.

 

Lady Bruin Basketball

RHS girls practice in the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium after school, with the varsity team being coached by Janelle Luu, and the JV team coached by her brother, Ty Luu.

Their first game is coming up just next week, the traditional Foundation Game, which will be against Johansen High from Modesto, on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Next Friday, they’re scheduled to travel to Merced to take on the El Capitan High School Gauchos.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, they’ll host McNair High from Stockton, in their first home game of the season.

 

Bruin Basketball

The varsity boys will suit up for their appearance in the Foundation Game, also on Nov. 19, also against Johansen.

After that, they’ll play at Enochs High in Modesto on Friday, Nov. 22., then on Monday, Nov. 25 at Denair.

They’re scheduled to play their first home game against Central Valley, from Ceres, on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

 

Lady Bruin Soccer

Girls have their first scrimmage this Friday, at Ripon Christian High School. Then it’s another scrimmage next Tuesday, at Union Mine High School in El Dorado.

They’ll have their first home matches on Friday, Nov. 22 hosting Sonora.

 

Bruin Soccer

For the boys on the pitch, their soccer action starts Friday, Nov. 15, scrimmaging at Grace Davis High School in Modesto. Next Tuesday, Nov. 19, they’ll scrimmage at Livingston High School.

The varsity will compete in the Hughson Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22 and 23, then they’ll host Denair for their first preseason match at home, on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

 

Bruin Wrestling

The Riverbank squads will take to their mats first, at the Goddess of War Tournament, for girls, on Saturday, Nov. 30, and at the Rod Gaines Invitational, on Saturday, Dec. 7, both at Tokay High School in Lodi.

There’s another girls tournament on Friday, Jan. 3, at Concord High School, and the first home preseason match is set for Jan. 8, against Big Valley Christian High School from Modesto.
