This past summer we purchased an all-electric vehicle for my wife. It was a tough decision weighing the pros and cons of an electric vehicle. So far, there have been more pro’s than cons. Just recently, Tesla revealed their all electric pick-up truck. There’s actually several major car manufacturers developing all-electric trucks. Like a lot of people, it’s hard to imagine a truck being all electric. The mere words, truck and tough, seem to go hand in hand. Even if an electric truck is practically armor plated, how many of those electric trucks can be repaired out in the woods. Then again, maybe they’ll never break down? As my family has adjusted, and become more and more comfortable owning an all-electric vehicle, I can’t help to not think about the possibilities of owning an electric truck. Surely, I wasn’t one of the hundreds of thousands of people who pre ordered their Cybertrucks after the reveal. I am becoming more interested in them though, especially after sitting in a long line recently at the diesel pumps.
Delta Report:
Striped bass fishing continues to pick up for anglers fishing a variety of techniques. The three techniques that are working right now are drifting live bait, trolling broken back rebels, and spooning jigs where schools of fish are present. Many of the large bridges are holding areas for striped bass, try spooning around the pilings or drifting live bait past them. Largemouth bass fishing has been hit or miss lately; anglers are struggling to find a consistent pattern as the weather has yet to stabilize.
New Melones Lake:
Trout fishing continues to be hit or miss for a lot of anglers. Most anglers are having some success while fishing power bait off the bottom in the backs of coves. There are also anglers that are trolling the main lake between 40 and 65 feet deep with Speedy Shiners. Bass fishing has slowed down and anglers are currently struggling to catch even the smaller bass. Those that are catching them are fishing small worms off the bottom or fishing around schools of baitfish off main lake points.
Lake Don Pedro:
Anglers fishing for bass are having success while tossing large swim baits for bass. Anglers just fishing for a limit are having success while fishing jigs and worms off the bottom around main lake points. Trout fishing continues to be slow, as the water cools more the bite should be picking up.
Lake Amador:
Weekly trout plants on the lake have begun and with each passing week more and more trout are being dumped into the lake. Anglers are having luck while fishing with Power Bait or casting Kastmasters from the bank and from their boats. There aren’t many reports of bass being caught. From experience, when the trout are being planted into the lake there are usually big bass around. Now is a good time to toss your favorite trout imitating swimbait.
Lake Camanche:
Weekly trout plants have kept anglers busy. Trout are being caught right now by trolling and fishing off the bank. Bank fishermen are having luck while using Power Bait along the North Shore day use area. Anglers trolling are targeting the top 20 feet of water and using an Uncle Larry’s spinner tipped with a nightcrawler along the dam. Bass fishermen continue to have luck while fishing shad imitating lures along island tops or main lake points. Fall is a great time to target the many bluffs found throughout the lake and with all the trout plants an angler searching for a trophy bass may want to give a swimbait a try.
Tip of the Week:
An old trick is to boil your clams before heading out for a catfishing trip. The clams firm up really nice boiled and also open up, making it a whole lot easier to bait your hook. They also stay on a lot better, which helps when the fish are just nibbling on your bait.
