Even though classes were on recess for the Thanksgiving holiday last week, Riverbank High athletes were able to get in a few preseason scrimmages on the home courts and fields. Girls soccer and boys basketball enjoyed the competition on Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of Turkey Day.

Bruin Basketball

Hosting Ceres on Nov. 22, the Bruins were able to keep their opponent to under 50 points and came away with a 66-43 victory in the preseason contest. They also held off Enochs on the home court, 51-48, in action Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The boys were to play in Gustine on Monday this week, Nov. 27, then host the annual Ron Peterson Tip-Off Tournament. Games are scheduled from Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 while the Riverbank freshmen will play in the Downey Tournament in Modesto those same days.

Lady Bruin Basketball

The girls basketball team was set to play at Mountain House on Nov. 27, and the varsity will be competing in the Rodriguez Tournament, Thursday through Saturday.

Lady Bruin Soccer

Girls soccer took to the pitch in the Angelo Novi Stadium early Tuesday evening, but play was limited to a junior varsity contest, hosting Oakdale’s Lady Mustangs. They declined to compete at the varsity level since they could only bring seven players because of the holiday week schedule.

Riverbank returns to preseason games this week, since school is back in session. They were to play at Linden on Monday, Nov. 27 and will be at home for a contest against Weston Ranch on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

The varsity team will compete in the Hughson Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 and 2.

Bruin Soccer

For the Bruin soccer boys, they were to be on the home pitch Monday, hosting Central Valley, then travel to Weston Ranch on Nov. 29 for an evening contest.

Wrestling

RHS grapplers are set to compete in the Rod Gaines Invitational at Tokay High School in Lodi on Saturday, Dec. 2.
