Fall sports at Riverbank High School will get under way this week with a boys' soccer game. It is a home game against Orestimba slated for Friday, Aug. 20, at 4 p.m.
Soccer players will continue the season on Tuesday, Aug. 24, with another home game against Waterford, starting at 3:30 p.m. on the Riverbank High field.
On the same day, Aug. 24, volleyball players will open their season with an away game against Turlock Christian in Turlock. Game times will be 6 p.m. for junior varsity and 7:30 p.m. for varsity.
The volleyball team will play its first home game the following day on Wednesday, Aug. 25 against Delhi, with the junior varsity game slated to start at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.
The girls golf team is also getting ready to play with their first league match scheduled for early September.
Football games will not begin until Friday, Sept. 3, when an away scrimmage is scheduled against Summerville. This will be followed by the first home game on the following Friday, Sept. 10, against Hughson.
Cross -country competition is slated to begin on Saturday, Sept. 4 with the Sierra Invitational. There is a chance to watch the team at a location closer to home when they run in the Pre-Season Meet at Legion Park in Modesto on Wednesday, Sept. 8.
This is the same course as is used for the final league meet in November, located near Modesto airport, and an easy drive from Riverbank.
The first home cross -country meet, on the Jacob Myers Park course in Riverbank, will not happen until October.
