Luu Nabs All-League
Status
Being a freshman starter in the competitive Trans-Valley League did little to hinder Janelle Luu's production or recognition in a long girls basketball season at Riverbank High.
Luu found the net often, despite double and triple teams near the basket in TVL action. She led Riverbank in scoring, and was the lone Lady Bruin to nab First Team All League recognition from the conference at Saturday's meeting between league coaches.
Her younger sister, Cardozo Middle School star Olivia Luu, will likely join Janelle at the varsity level for the 2011-12 Lady Bruin season.
Last Call For Teams
North American Youth Sports still has openings in the annual spring youth basketball tournament slated at Turlock High School from March 25 through 27. All grades are based on the grade in which a student is currently enrolled. Entry deadline for the late March tournament is Friday, March 4. For more information or an entry form, call the NAYS spring tournament hotline at 1-866-352-5915; tournament director Doug Cornfoot at 209-535-6076.
