Tournament time keeps RHS sports teams busy

The past week was a busy one for Riverbank High School athletes, with tournament play for several of the teams, and more in store this week. Here is a look at recent action on both the court and pitch.

 

Bruin Basketball

Boys players started the week with preseason games hosting Sonora and ended in a series of games in their Kick-Off Tournament over the weekend.

The varsity team fell 76-37 to the Wildcats on Monday, Dec 2. In their Ron Peterson Tournament, starting on Thursday, Riverbank fell to River Islands High School from Lathrop, 74-55. On Friday, they lost to Ceres, 81-67, and on Saturday, they lost, 61-50, to Hughson.

This week they play at Grace Davis High in Modesto on Wednesday evening, for their only game on the schedule.

 

Lady Bruin Basketball

Riverbank’s girls basketball hosted Hughson, on Tuesday, Dec. 3, winning, 66-27, then traveled to Ceres, where they beat the Lady Bulldogs, 64-40, on Thursday, Dec. 5.

This week, they traveled to Modesto to take on Enochs on Monday, putting that game in the win column, 73-49. Next up, the girls are to host Los Banos on Dec. 11, before playing in the Liberty Ranch Tournament, Thursday through Saturday, taking on West Campus from Sacramento in a first-round game on Dec. 12.

 

Bruin Soccer

On Monday, Dec. 2, Riverbank’s varsity boys soccer team went to Oakdale and defeated the Mustangs, 5-3. On Thursday, they started the Powerade Classic Tournament in Clovis against Orosi High School, from east of Fresno, beating the Cardinals, 2-0.

On Friday, the tournament had them facing Riverdale High School, from south of Fresno, coming away with a 1-0 win over the Cowboys. On Saturday, Riverbank closed out their tournament with a 6-1 loss to the Dos Palos Broncos, from south of Merced.

This week, boys soccer was to have an away match at Hilmar on Dec. 11, with the varsity game starting at 3:30 p.m.

 

Lady Bruin Soccer

Riverbank girls played at Beyer High School in Modesto on Monday, Dec. 2, falling 10-0, in the non-league match. On Friday, in the Oakdale Tournament, RHS fell to Lincoln High School from Stockton, 11-0, then to Merced, 3-0. On Saturday, they dropped a match to Central Valley of Ceres, 8-0.

This week, girls soccer will host Hilmar on Wednesday, Dec. 11, beginning at 5:30 p.m., then play in the Ripon Christian Tournament this weekend, on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and 14.
