Lady Bruin varsity volleyball players began their 2022 season with a non-league match with Johansen High School from Modesto.
Called the Foundation Game, the action kicks off the campaign with a fundraiser like those held all across the Trans-Valley League, benefitting the league’s programs.
Riverbank played hard but ultimately ended on the short side of a 3-2 final score. They won the first and third sets, 25-19 and 25-21, but fell in sets two and four, then lost the fifth and deciding set to Johansen, 5-15.
RHS also hosted the Lady Hawks of Central Valley High School in Ceres on Tuesday, Aug. 23, coming out on top, with a three-game sweep in non-league play.
Riverbank is scheduled to travel to Orestimba High in Newman on Aug. 31, then host Turlock Christian High School on Thursday, Sept. 1 in non-league action.
Bruin Football
After Riverbank football began a couple of weeks ago on the home field, the Bruins took on the Hawks at Delhi High School this past Friday, Aug. 26, where they fell, 36-0. The Bruins are scheduled to travel to Denair this week for a non-league contest.
Lady Bruin Golf
Riverbank’s girls golf teed off with a match welcoming Gustine to the home course in Escalon, on Tuesday, Aug. 23. The next day, they hosted Hilmar, before competing in the Yellowjacket Invitational at the Turlock Country Club on Monday, Aug. 29.
They were to host Orestimba's Lady Warriors in Escalon on Aug. 30, after The News went to press and Thursday, Sept. 1 were to be on the road against Ripon Christian.
Co-Ed Cross Country
Bruin runners were to compete this week in a scrimmage at Frogtown in Angels Camp and also are scheduled to race at Woodward Park in Fresno, site of the Central Valley Classic, on Friday, Sept. 2.
